Planned by parents, for parents, the retreat offered families a space to recharge, build community, and celebrate the power of family voice. Reflecting on the Retreat: A Community of Strength |
|
Over two days at the K Bar S Lodge in Keystone, families participated in sessions led by both professionals and parents, including keynotes from Kayla Klein, who explored advocacy and power mapping, and Hollie Strand, who guided participants in understanding stress and resilience. Parent-led breakout sessions offered new insights into mental health, the power of literacy, and resilience during family transitions. A retreat favorite, Parent Cafés featured guided, rotating conversations that encouraged open dialogue, fostered personal growth, and promoted healing. Families explored a variety of topics relevant to parenting, sharing experiences, exchanging ideas, and finding connection through meaningful conversations with others on similar journeys. “This weekend reminded me that I’m not alone—that my story matters, and my voice can make a difference,” one parent reflected. “This is the best day ever!” one participant exclaimed during an activity. A Shared Vision for the FutureThe Empowering Families Retreat was more than an event—it was a reminder that when parents are supported, communities thrive. Every conversation, laugh, and connection echoed the belief that families are the heart of change. “We came as individuals, but we’re leaving as a community,” shared one participant, capturing the spirit of the weekend. Gratitude and Next StepsThe retreat was made possible through collaboration among parent leaders, the Statewide Family Engagement Center, and our sponsors—Two Pines Therapy and Connection Center, Dakota Trout Unlimited, Huggies, and K Bar S Lodge. Together, we’re building a movement of empowered families—one connection at a time. |
